Plus 24 members of the Association.
WELCOME – John Archer welcomed members to the meeting and thanked them for attending and supporting SGRA. John congratulated the three Councillors on retaining their place as Councillors.
APOLOGIES – Sheila Weare, Manjit Singh, Brian Croom, Nagin, Prajapati, Judith and David Cule, Paul Woodcock, Sathya Subramanya, Kirt Parshad, Wendy Sneath, Jane Parfitt.
MINUTES – The minutes of the meeting held on 30th April 2026, having been posted online and circulated, were accepted.
MATTERS ARISING – John Archer had spoken with the school headmaster who was expected to join the meeting later. Charges for the room hire although had been increase was significantly cheaper than St James on the Grange. Coat of Arms Bridge Rd flooding was discussed. No flooding recently had happened.
LOCAL POLICE UPDATE –PC Tyrone was absent from the last PACT meeting. Two other officers in attendance who seemed unaware of what was going on the Grange regarding parking around the school. Similar problems are in other school areas. No crime figures were provided. John A reported the crime figures March 394, April 392. The Council had fined the owner of rubbish at the bottom of Barnack Ave

John Blundell thanks all residents for the support re the local election. Labour 24 had a minority administration supported by the Green party. Reform 20, Tories 6, Green 4. The Labour leader George Duggins beat Jackie Gardener (Reform) as the Tories had abstained The Green party supported George Duggins. The next council meeting is on the 23rd of June. Concerns regarding the fee for St Mary’s Hall are to be discussed. John Blundell is the new leader of the Conservative council. Mattie Heaven is the Deputy leader. No coalition with other parties as they intend to be their own master. All council meeting is on the Council web site. Flooding in Hexworthy and Dawlish Drive had been reported to the drainage team. Automatic number plate recognition car is off the road due to technical issues. Baginton airport will close for aircraft from the 10th of June. The Rigsby Group and Coventry Councill have joint interest here. The Green Power park. A number of small businesses have been told to quit. No compensation for them. Air Ambulance is to be located in Leicestershire at the Catthorpe Area. Air Museum. John Blundell will identify where it is moving to. 118 Alpine rise. No further updates. The Green bin license renewal is on the 1st of June. A two-week grace period is allowed. Mattie Heaven thanked all residents for their support. A meeting is to take place with the headmaster on the 5th of June reference partnership with the school. Triangle engagement with school, police, and council. Fly tipping in Barnack Ave is being investigated by the council. 137 Kenilworth Road planning application for Children’s Care Home. St Mary’s Hall has a coffee shop but is not open every day. St Mary’s Hall attendance should be free, as discussed at the last Councill meeting, Tories are not aligned to other parties. Any Councillor can now attend the scrutiny board with a register being kept. The scrutiny board have been reduced for a trial period of 6 months, but any Councillor can attend. Pratibha Reddy mentioned the Finham Festival that will take place on the 20th of June. Roy Preedy said that the drain vehicle was on the estate today. Where had the Peeping Tom that was in Hertford Street been stored? Councillors to look into this. John Archer asked if IKEA details were available and what is to happen the Elephant in Fairfax Street? The baths were listed but will be taken down and developed over the next three years. What will replace them? It was thought that it would not be student accommodation and has only 63% occupancy. A member raised the problem of parking at the Belgrade Plaza. This currently illegal to park and is not available as the NCP has gone into liquidation.
STREETWATCH – 8 Members enables more flexibility If any areas require further patrols, please advise Mick or Anant. A street watch poster is in Morrisons if anyone wants to join. A member saw a Deliveroo cutting through the posts to the Meadow. John Blundell to investigate.
TREASURER’S REPORT – Finances –we currently have £1137.03. Facebook – Mick has lost the administration role on Facebook. Mick may start a new one.

Grey Friars Arts and Recreation Society is now using St James on the Grange. Weekly meetings. Three free visits then Fee per year and fee per attendance. AGM on Thursday 5th June
Mick reported a lottery scam. A letter from International FIFA World Cup online. £900,000.00 win. Do not contact the phone number.

John thanked Heidi for her support in the absence of Sheila who is still unavailable.
